So here is how I started cosplaying and tips for you to start cosplaying also as well. So I started cosplaying in 6th grade. So in the middle of 5th grade I got really interested in Japan. In 6th grade I became a weeaboo. ((Not a huge weeaboo, just like a quarter in to the weeb scale)). So naturally, I became a big fan of Vocaloid. So I found all these videos on youtube by searching "Vocaloid live action" I realized these things were cosplay. I thought at first that cosplay was just dressing as vocaloid. Soon, though, I found out it's dressing as anything and acting out as the character. So I started up a cosplay group that failed entirely. I did find out about conventions though. Which is super neat.
I wanted to go to a convention. I registered for one in June(Hoshicon 2013) but in Febreuary of 2013 my friend Allison, sent me a link to Triad Anime Con. That ended up being my very first convention. It was a great convention, very fun. I cosplayed Chihiro on Friday, DJ PON3 on Saturday, and a maid on Sunday.

But, Hubert? How do I go to a convention? Well, there's probablt at LEAST one in your state! You can google it or you can go to http://animecons.com/events/ and that has a list of all of the convetions. When you find the conventions in your state, See the themes or any more information on that convention to see if it's one you might like. You can also check it on youtube for vlogs or coverage of that convention.
When you find the covnention you like, you can pre register online or register there. If you are planning on attending a 3 day convention that is far from your home, I reccommend booking a hotel room months in advance, or even a year depending on the size of the con.
